7-Day Rwanda Wildlife & Gorilla Safari
Day 1 – Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Akagera National Park
Arrive in Kigali and enjoy a short city tour featuring important landmarks, local communities and markets. Continue toward Akagera National Park for your overnight stay and safari preparation.
Day 2 – Akagera National Park Game Drive & Boat Safari
Enjoy an early morning game drive across Akagera’s savannah plains in search of elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and other wildlife. Later, enjoy a boat safari on Lake Ihema, where hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds are commonly encountered.
Day 3 – Akagera to Nyungwe National Park
After breakfast, travel southwest toward Nyungwe National Park. Enjoy Rwanda’s spectacular countryside and rolling hills along the journey. Arrive at your accommodation near the rainforest and relax.
Day 4 – Nyungwe Chimpanzee Tracking & Canopy Walk
Start early with a guided chimpanzee tracking experience in Nyungwe Forest. Later, experience the famous Nyungwe canopy walkway, offering spectacular views across the rainforest and surrounding landscapes.
Day 5 – Nyungwe to Lake Kivu & Volcanoes National Park
Travel toward Lake Kivu and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the lake. Continue north toward Volcanoes National Park, home to Rwanda’s famous mountain gorillas. Relax at your lodge and prepare for the following day’s trek.
Day 6 – Volcanoes National Park Gorilla Trekking
Spend the day trekking through the forests of Volcanoes National Park in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. The experience provides an unforgettable opportunity to observe these remarkable primates in their natural environment.
Day 7 – Golden Monkey Experience & Kigali
Enjoy an optional golden monkey tracking experience or a cultural activity around Volcanoes National Park. Later, travel back to Kigali for departure or your onward journey.
